PSP v8 101 ~ Header Image

Lesson 3

This week we are experimenting with Text and Text Effects. My Header for this page was created on a solid black background with a selected Ellipse flood filled with a Green Gradient on a separate layer and the opacity set to 22. The Text is Black Chancery size 72 on a separate layer filled with the same Green Gradient, opacity set at 100 and the CutoOut Effect added.

This graphic is an example of the CutOut and Drop shadow Effect using the same layers as the header using the Text Font 'Porky's Heavy'.

Another Effect example of the CutOut and Dropshadow image

Ok, So I can't seem to get on with this week's lesson and get away from the CutOut and Drop shadow Effect.
These images just happen to be the ones that did not end up in the trash bin :)

The Chisel and Buttonized Text Effect image

I did finally come up with ONE image that I added the Effect 'Chisel' to that did worked ok. The problem I kept facing with the Chisel Effect was all the white pixels that are remaining after that effect is applied. To sort of get around this I selected the text before using the Chisel Effect and contracted it by one pixel. When I applied the Chisel to this image I used a dark orange color and that seemed to make the real difference in this one staying out of the Trash Bin :)

Thanks Wendy! ~ PSPv8 sure does take it's sweet time in rendering the Kerning and Leading while in the Text Entry dialog Box.
Maybe Jasc will add that to the list of 'things to be fixed' soon :)
I'm excited to find out what you've got planned for Lesson 4!
