Fw Mx Week 1 WkHeader

In this Week One of Fireworks MX Intro class with debbieT we have learned how to Get Familiar with our Fireworks Mx Interface and to set some of our Preferences. I know that since we only had 711 pages of instructions this first week there is no way that that's all there is to Learn about Fireworks Mx. debbieT is going easy on us this week and keeping a Lot of the Good Stuff for the other Five Weeks of class :)

Now with My Workspace really confused I'll continue as if I knew exactly what I was trying to accomplish.

The main focus of Fireworks Mx is creating Vector Objects for export to the Web. Vector uses math to display an Object. Bitmaps are composed of pixels. A Bitmap (or raster) image is one of the two major graphic types the other being Vector.

Vectors vs. Bitmaps

Bitmap-based images are comprised of pixels in a grid. Each pixel or "bit" in the image contains information about the color to be displayed. Bitmap images have a fixed resolution and cannot be resized without losing image quality.

Vector graphics are made up of many individual objects. Each of these objects can be defined by mathematical statements and has individual properties assigned to it such as color, fill, and outline. Vector graphics are resolution independent because they can be output to the highest quality at any scale.

Now I'll attempt to create some images to post on this page using Macromedia Fireworks Mx. Our first instruction was to create two rectangles of different colors with both a fill and an outline.

First Fw Mx Image My first rectangle I created is Red with a Black stroke. My second is a Gray rectangle with a Black stroke placed on top of the Red rectangle. This is getting serious now. Who said Fireworks Mx was hard? ok ok ok ~ so I only know how to create one object so far.
Next debbieT instructed us to use the same Object (remember we're playing with Vector Objects) to Change the color of those original rectangles.

Well ~~ My fingers started clicking away and I was flabbergasted at what all those cute little buttons would do!!
My Second attempt at creating a rectangle
My Third Fw Mx Image My Third attempt was pretty lame. Once you click in the same location with different effects over 93 times you completely forget which effect actually looked pretty cool *sigh*

"The day will be the most memorable in America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival...it ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade ...bonfires and illuminations (fireworks) from one end of this continent to the other, from this day forward, forevermore."
-John Adams, in a letter to his wife after the Continental Congress decided to proclaim the American colonies independent from Britain.
My Fourth Rectangle this week!

Great Instructions debbieT ~~ Thanks!!
